Turmeric: This Golden Root is Excellent for Your Skin

Can you dry up oily skin, help minimize the look of dark spots, decrease the appearance of aging, and defend your inner sun goddess, all with one natural ingredient?

If you’re speaking about turmeric, the answer is YES.

All about Turmeric

Turmeric has been considered the main part of Indian history for at least 4000 years. It is usually used as a spice for traditional recipes as a medicine and as a color that offers a pretty yellow-orange color.

As part of spiritual tradition in both Hinduism and Buddhism. Turmeric is used to anoint the statues of gods and to represent purity in important ceremonies like birthing and marriage.

The History of Turmeric

It was one of the first and most main spices in the Silk Road spice trade, and because of its extensive use, it has over 50 names in Sanskrit and is known all around the globe by many more. Most frequently it’s known by its Latin name, Curcuma. That can be complex because there are over 100 Curcuma plants globally, and most of them are known regionally, grow in rainforest climates, and have similar healing uses but the turmeric that thinks of is Curcuma longa.

Though this family of ginger has been around for thousands of years, turmeric has experienced revived popularity thanks to recent research confirming that its health benefits are nothing short of marvelous.

Internal Uses for Turmeric:

Along with being rich and delicious, taking Turmeric internally consistently is excellent for the long-term nurture of the cardiovascular and digestive systems. The old peoples know this, and that’s why it’s used in so many recipes – and having it with a little bit of black pepper makes it even more compelling.

The Numerous Health Benefits Found in Turmeric

Modern medicine has included turmeric, with over 3,000 publications mentioning the root over the past 25 years because of an effective ingredient in turmeric called curcumin.

The studies have shown that curcumin, when eaten consistently, may increase circulation, prevent blood clots, delay the onset of type 2 diabetes, ease joint pain, and help to improve memory in dementia patients.

Turmeric in Ayurvedic Medicine

Turmeric has been used in Ayurvedic medicine for the Kapha/Vata type and is known as a mild liver stimulating herb so it’s indicated for headaches that are affected by liver stagnation (bilious headaches), and for people that are sympathetic to fatty food.

Turmeric is affordable, available and it’s a substation of an herb, so we think that it’s worth adding a tiny bit to your dinnertime spice mixture. Even though it isn’t something that will make a quickly remarkable change to your health, regular use and extractions are contraindicated for people that are already taking blood-thinning medications, have clotting disorders, or have surgery soon.

Turmeric for Skin

Help Reduce Oiliness:

Turmeric has natural oil-controlling qualities over time! If you’re working with clogged pores and oily skin, try including turmeric extract in your homemade masks. If you’re utilizing the powder, be sure to mix it with other elements because it can leave a yellow spot on your skin if you’re using it for a long time on its own.

Delays the Appearance of Aging:

Turmeric holds great antioxidants known to defend against environmental stressors. With its internal advantages being so wondrous, it makes sense that topical use of turmeric may also help prevent the appearance of aging on the skin.

Fades the Appearance of Dark Spots:

Most of all tired of those dark spots! Turmeric is an ancient beauty routine for lightening and glowing the skin. Turmeric water was habitually used to wash with every day for the illuminating result.

Great for Sensitive Skin:

Turmeric is such a tender ally that it’s excellent to use for sensitive skin too. It is calming to reactive, sensitive skin while also being mineral and antioxidant-rich and supplying nourishment for that sensitive skin that needs a bit of extra love.
